1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of jesusjourney.life and myjesusjourney.life (together, the "Service"), operated by Jesus Journey Survey ("Jesus Journey," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of a church or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of the service
Jesus Journey Survey is a research-backed survey tool that helps individuals reflect on their spiritual growth and helps churches understand the spiritual health of their congregation as a whole. The survey methodology is based on research by Dr. Dennis Orthner and Gary Best, described in the paper "Assessing Spiritual Development: Reflections on Building a Community Measure" (Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care, 2021). The Service includes: a self-guided survey for individuals; a group survey tool for churches, distributed via a join code; and, for churches, a numeric PDF report, a grouped comments report, and a dashboard covering the Prepare, Collect, Interpret, and Act stages of running a congregation survey.
3. Eligibility
The survey is designed for respondents aged 16 and older. By taking the survey, you represent that you meet this age requirement, or that you are completing it under the guidance of a parent, guardian, pastor, life coach, or spiritual director as applicable.
4. Using the survey as an individual
Individuals may take the survey on their own, outside of a church group. Individual participation is anonymous, as described in our Privacy Policy. Individuals taking the survey under the guidance of a life coach or spiritual director may be eligible for a reduced rate — see the pricing details on our site or contact us.
5. Church accounts and survey waves
Churches register for an account with an email address and password, then create and distribute a survey "wave" to their congregation using a join code. The church administrator is responsible for keeping their password confidential and for all activity that occurs under their account.
A survey wave typically requires a minimum number of responses (shown at the time of set-up) before a statistically meaningful report can be generated. Once a wave is closed, we generate the church's numeric report and comments report from the aggregate data; the underlying individual responses are then permanently deleted, as described in our Privacy Policy. Churches are responsible for reviewing their report and reaching out to us with any questions promptly, since raw response data is not retained for later reprocessing.
6. Fees, payment & refunds
Church survey pricing is tiered based on congregation size (attendees aged 16+), as shown on our pricing page. Prices are listed in USD and processed through Stripe. By purchasing a survey wave, you authorize us to charge the payment method provided.
Because generating a report consumes real processing work and, for closed waves, results in deletion of the underlying raw data, purchases are generally non-refundable once a survey wave has been opened for responses. If you believe you were charged in error, or a technical problem on our end prevented your church from receiving a usable report, contact us — we will review the situation and work with you on a fair resolution.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, deceive, or harm respondents.
- Attempt to identify individual anonymous respondents from aggregate data.
- Share a church join code publicly beyond its intended congregation, or otherwise attempt to manipulate survey results.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another church's account, dashboard, or reports.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the normal operation of the Service.
8. Intellectual property
The Jesus Journey Survey questionnaire, scoring methodology, report design, and the Service's software, text, and branding are owned by Jesus Journey Survey or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Church administrators may use their own generated reports internally within their church for ministry planning purposes. You may not republish, resell, or create derivative surveys from our questionnaire or methodology without our written permission.
9. Not medical, therapeutic, or professional advice
The Jesus Journey Survey is a self-reflection and ministry-planning tool. It is not a medical, psychological, or therapeutic diagnostic instrument, and results should not be treated as clinical advice. If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or crisis, please seek help from a qualified professional or local crisis service.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jesus Journey Survey and its founders, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any account that violates these Terms. Church administrators may close their account at any time by contacting us; outstanding fees for services already rendered remain due.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a different governing law is required by the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
